Support group meetings

Sexual Abuse Survivors Inc. is happy to announce that we offer the community support group meetings with no cost to anyone attending! As the board members of SASI were walking through the journey of getting this non-profit started, we all agreed to one thing; outside of therapy there is not a lot of options for recovery when it comes to the topic of sexual abuse. We are changing that! When the horrible act of sexual abuse was forced on us our freedom of choice was taken away. Free will is one of the most amazing gifts we as humans can have and in the moment our gift was taken. When you walk into a support group ran by SASI we will happily give that gift back to you. In these rooms you are safe, you are loved, and you are our priority. After we became the victims of sexual abuse our minds, bodies, and souls changed. We will never be the same, nobody ever is after something as devastating as sexual abuse happens to them. To protect ourselves, we created coping mechanisms, some of these coping mechanisms we are conscious of but some of them we are not. Support group meetings take the focus away from what happened to us and put the focus on something we can control, how our body, mind, and soul has chosen to protect itself (coping mechanisms). When we focus on how we can be better the abuser no longer has power over us, and we cross the bridge from victim to survivor.

Our mentor program

When attending support groups you will hear about our mentor program. Through this program you can choose a mentor who will walk with you as you go through this process of healing. A mentor is simply a friend who you can contact at any time when you need someone to talk to. Your mentor will also walk through packets of information with you and work with you on what recovery looks like for you. Mentors have to be certified through our organization, so only certain people can walk with you through this process. Please contact any board member for more information about this program.
